FORMALITIES

VISAS

Shooters coming from European Community countries, that have a valid passport or identity card can enter Italy without any problems.

Shooters from outside the European Community, must obtain a visa from the Italian embassy or consulate (see in the website www.esteri.it/visti the list of nations for which a visa is required).

A minimum of 20 days is required for issuing visas. Federations that require visas are requested to inform the FITAV (Italian Archery Federation) and to contact the consulate or embassy to apply for Visa Sport. If you need information regarding the Visa process, please send your request to visa@fitav.it

WEAPON IMPORT PERMISSION

Each shooter is allowed to carry two weapons and 1000 cartridges maximum in Italy.

We advise shooters of the European Community to ask for an European gun Card that allows you to travel easily and simplify dealings with the police near the Italian border.

Equipped with European card of firearms, a shooter may enter Italy without an import official FITAV permission.

Non EEC resident shooters must apply for a gun import permit. They must send the following information to the international department of FITAV:

Destination in Italy (Shooting range and denomination of the championship)
Reason of the trip in Italy

Description of the gun: type (shotgun), model, Brand, caliber, serial #, other details (extra barrels)
Email adress and/or fax

FITAV will send you a copy of the permit by fax or by email. You will have to show that copy of permit to the customs upon your arrival in Italy.

If you need information regarding the importation of firearms, please send your request to gunpermit@fitav.it

When you leave Italy, these forms must be shown to the police at the border (if you come by car) or at the airport (if you arrive by plane).

For travelers by car, all the formalities are settled at the Italian border or in police stations in and out.
