The 33rd edition of the SEA Games (Southeast Asian Games) has just come to an end in Thailand, featuring around 50 sports and 9,300 athletes from 11 Southeast Asian countries: Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Laos, Brunei, Timor-Leste and Cambodia.
The SEA Games are held every two years; this year, the host country for the 2025 edition was Thailand, which organized the event in a remarkable manner.
The disciplines grouped under the name Shotgun Sport are: Olympic Skeet, Olympic Trap, and, for the first time, officially included in this high-level event, the FITASC disciplines Sporting and Compak Sporting.
Five national teams participated in the ISSF Skeet and Olympic Trap disciplines.
Five national teams of three shooters participated in the FITASC Compak Sporting discipline: Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam and Singapore.
Four national teams of four shooters participated in the FITASC Sporting discipline: Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam.
I had the opportunity to be invited to chair the organization of these FITASC competitions, where I witnessed the extraordinary enthusiasm of the shooters participating in the FITASC disciplines, with extremely promising technical levels for the future.
The 2027 SEA Games will take place in Malaysia and promise even more participation in FITASC disciplines. Between now and then, Thailand will host the Asian Championships in January 2026 and the Compak Sporting World Championships in 2027.
JF Palinkas, FITASC President
